Lay Zhang x Converse Chuck 70 High

Chinese singer-dancer Lay Zhang continues his creative partnership with the Americans at Converse by expressing himself once again on the iconic Chuck 70 silhouette. This second collaborative sneaker is adorned with a modern and elegant look designed to bring the Eastern and Western worlds closer together.

The shoe consists of a high-end white canvas upper, thicker and more durable than the canvas used in the classic iterations. A blue print, paying homage to the enamelled lotus artwork decorating Chinese pottery, covers the white tongue and heel insert through which a silk bandana is inserted, which is tied at the ankle and features the same pattern. Lay Zhang wished to promote a symbol of cultural union with this lotus pattern applied on the bandana. The legendary circular star patch on the ankle is preserved, here in white and blue. As for Zhang’s logo, it appears among the patterns of the bandana and adorns the dubraes with matching laces. The pair comes with two sets of laces, white and blue, to ensure the best matchings. The whole is based on a translucent glow-in-the-dark icy sole, revealing the blue Chinese pottery patterns under the foot.

The Lay Zhang x Converse Chuck 70 High will be released on November 13, 2020 on Converse.com and later at selected retailers. Stay tuned…
