[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Fashion designer Kiko Kostadinov and the Japanese brand Asics are long-time partners. During the 2019 Autumn/Winter women’s fashion show, we were able to discover the first collaborative sneaker for women, the GESSIRIT™ model. The designers of the Womenswear division, twins Laura and Deanna Fanning, are worked on the second edition of this model that is presented to us today : the Kiko Kostadinov x Asics GESSIRIT™ II.
This shoe is available in two colorways reinterpreting white and black : one named “Cream” and the other “Phantom”.
The colour palette for the “Cream” ranges from yellow to blue with green, cream, red and a touch of black. The “Phantom” is dressed mainly in black with elements of brigt blue, grey, pink and a hint of yellow.
This model builds on the light profile of the previous iteration by adding elements of the tennis sneaker released in 2003, the EXCOURT™ II.
The padded leather uppers feature a constellation-like star pattern.
The stars are represented by small colored Gel Pod balls, a nod to Asics’ innovative materials. These circular form of different sizes are placed all over the shoe and replace the emblematic Asics stripes.
We discover a brightly coloured textured plastic insert on the heel counter and a band in a contrasting, shiny colour that covers the top of the sole.
The design of this silhouette is in line with the concept of the 2020 Spring/Summer Ready-To-Wear collection. As on the women model “Gel Aurania” released at the end of April (article available HERE), we find a combination of circular form, bold colours and materials dedicated to the practice of sport.
This line is the result of an exchange of ideas between Kostadinov’s typical architectural design and Asics’ perpetual search for performance.
