The famous German equipment manufacturer adidas joined forces with the Muppets franchise to design a Stan Smith featuring the mythical Kermit frog. As part of a sustainable development approach, this new collaboration is manufactured using recycled materials.
For the youngsters, Kermit the Frog is a puppet designed by American Jim Henson in 1955, the presenter of the Muppet Show. This American-British television series offers a succession of sketches and musical numbers performed by a puppet troupe, with Kermit acting as stage manager. A human guest from the world of film, theater or music takes part in the script. This series was broadcast for decades on various television channels until 2001 in France.
The iconic silhouette presented today uses the adidas Primegreen system. It consists of a smooth white leather upper with perforations on the side panels evoking the 3 adidas stripes. A tongue, laces and visible seams also in white color refine the look. A nice touch of contrast is provided by lime green accents, reminiscent of the Kermit look, in the tongue and heel tab branding. This specific color is also used to draw the portrait of the famous puppet on the side heel, as well as to inscribe Kermit in place of the legendary Stan Smith between the Three Stripes. To complete the design and tribute, the model’s name on the heel tab is replaced by the famous frog’s signature phrase « It’s not easy being green ». The whole is based on the traditional all-white sole, completing the lifestyle look.
