The highly conceptual Korean ready-to-wear brand KANGHYUK continued its partnership with the British equipment manufacturer Reebok. Unveiled during the presentation of the Fall/Winter 2021-22 collection, the popular and timeless Classic Leather silhouette is available in four new versions.
KHANGHYUK was founded in 2017 by designers Kanghyuk Choi and Sanglak Shon. The two partners innovate in design, but also in conception by choosing unexpected materials to elaborate their pieces. These visionaries seek to give a second life to everyday objects. For example, the famous deployed car air bags have been used to make sturdy outerwear, jackets, shirts and pants. Choi and Shon combine various worlds, such as sports and fashion, through the combination of fabrics and trash materials. KHANGHYUK has a very personal approach to design, both aesthetically futuristic and conceptually revolutionary.
The 4 versions of the Reebok Classic Leather adopt 2 different design styles. We thus discover 2 duos of shoes.
The first duo includes a white sneaker and a blue sneaker. Their solid color base is enhanced by visible zig-zag stitching, red for the white pair and tone-on-tone for the blue pair. These seams create a circular pattern on the side panels, which also features the KANGHYUK brand instead of the usual REEBOK. Tongue, lining, laces and a sole in matching color to the upper complete the look.
The second duo consists of a red iteration and a white iteration. These shoes have a deconstructed look. They are composed of an upper in patchwork frayed on the whole foot, referring to the previous achievements very appreciated of KANGHYUK. To assert the upcycling approach, we distinguish on the white pair serial numbers and some little red inscriptions. As for the first duo, the tongues, lining, laces and soles are matched to the upper.
The KANGHYUK x Reebok Classic Leather should be released in September 2021. The price and distribution way have not yet been announced… Stay tuned !
