The prestigious KangaROOS brand is renowned for its high quality sneakers and its collaborations elaborated with great care. But also, KangaROOS is known to be a committed label. The preservation of nature and the defense of endangered animal species are among its concerns. After presenting us in May with a « Polar Bear » shoe paying tribute to one of the greatest predators on the verge of extinction (article available HERE), an Ultimate MiG « Triple Zero » was designed to alarm us about the damage caused by global warming and devastating fires.
« The planet is on fire » is how the KangaROOS brand sums up the world we live in today. Climate change, the interminable clearing of the Amazon rainforest and incidents, whether intentional or not, such as the devastating fires in Australia, mean that the living conditions of all living beings are deteriorating more and more each day.
In order to highlight this undeniable fact and to pay tribute to the fire fighters, KangaROOS handcrafted this Ultimate « Triple Zero » in Germany using used B-75 fire hoses and recycled fire jackets. The name « Triple Zero » refers to the Australian emergency number 000. It was heavily dialed last year during the terrible fires that killed tens of people, millions of animals and destroyed thousands of hectares.
The shoe is dressed in a colors palette ranging from beige to orange, off-white, silver and a touch of black. It consists of an upper combining the fabric of the fire hoses with high quality calf suede, pigskin leather and mesh. To add cachet to the pair, we find 3M reflective accents, such as the thin stripes on the toe box, under the ankle area and on the laceguard, as well as the tongue label. The lining is made from recycled fireproof jackets in orange color, ensuring a harmonious design. An orange heel clip, two-tone laces with black and silver geometric patterns, and a « KangaROOS DEPT » logo engraved on the heel, complete the elegant and neat look. The whole is based on a comfortable white DYNACOIL midsole combined with a black rubber outsole.
The KangaROOS Ultimate MiG « Triple Zero » is a limited edition of 517 pieces worldwide.
