The germans from KANGAROOS present us today a sneaker created on the silhouette of the “Runaway ROOS 001” and made in a committed mind, in order to become aware of the risk of extinction of one of the biggest land predators : the Polar Bear. Since 2006, this animal has been classified in the “endangered” category on the IUCN Red List. (Source : wwf.de) and within 40 years, its population will surely decrease by at least 30% due to global warming and the global pollution.
As a tribute to this large mammal and the wild, this model named “Polar Bear” is entirely made in Germany by Kangaroos. The colorway refers to the coat of this bear, a pure and bright white due to the reflection of the ice and a touch of beige.
The pair consists of a smooth and perforated calf suede upper in white to beige, entirely handmade in the Hummel & Hummel factory in Münchweiler, Germany. We find a lining in the same shades, combining mesh and pigskin leather.
On the back of the heel, a dripping bear’s head, a reminder of global warming, is engraved on the suede. On the quarter, there is the number of the pair, limited to 274 pieces worldwide.
A few touches of blue, notably for branding details on the panels of the shoe, the lacetag and the tips of laces, add energy to this pair. This colour, a nod to the ocean surrounding the ice pack, was chosen to cover the insole, which has antibacterial, breathable and moisture-absorbing properties.
The whole is based on a high performance outsole, in the pair’s colours, which is no longer on display, the Dynacoil.
