California artist Joshua Vides adds an New Balance 327 silhouette to his first ever collection with the Boston-based manufacturer. This special edition accompanies the NB 57/40 collaborative unveiled a few days ago (article available HERE) and a series of matching garments.
The graffiti artist turned big brand designer previewed his collaborations with New Balance on his Instagram account. Joshua Vides reinterpreted these silhouettes, obviously drawing inspiration from his love of spray paint cans, and dressed them up in his distinctive « cartoon » style.
While the NB 57/40 seen earlier is presented in an off-white color with black details, the 327 seen today has an inverted design : a black base with white spots. They both feature the same « PROCESS » theme.
The artist says that each shoe is unique. They have been « splashed » with paint individually by hand. These small spots of contrasting color can be reminiscent of snowflakes swirling in the sky before landing on our feet.
This exclusive 327 features a black upper combining nylon, leather and shaggy suede. In addition to the white splashes, other elements are presented in white to harmonize the design : the tongue, laces, co-branding on the insole, tongue tag and midsole. A semi-translucent gumsole completes the look.
