A little over a year after the release of the 1st signature shoe of NBA player Zion Williamson (article available HERE), the Jumpman brand officializes the launch of the brand new Jordan Zion 2.
This season has been complicated for the player of the New Orleans Pelicans, with injuries that have kept him away from the floor. Despite this, Jordan Brand has worked on a new signature model, the Zion 2, to facilitate the return to the court of the basketball player.
This 2nd signature sneaker balances the technical prowess, maximizing Zion Williamson’s power and speed. It also references his unique personality and allows the player to be completely locked in on the floor. Comfortable and lightweight, the shoe is segmented into 3 key areas : the heel for impact resistance, the midfoot for resilience and containment, and the toe for comfort and mobility.
The Jordan Zion 2 introduces a new technology that decouples the strobel from a full-length unit to a heel-focused unit, allowing for 20% more Zoom Air in the forefoot (increasing responsiveness) and softer, more comfortable cushioning in the heel after an explosive dunk. With explosiveness comes the need for support. The Zion 2 features a performance shell sole that wraps around the top of the foot and a forefoot strap that works in tandem with the lacing system for optimal support.
As for the design, it sports a retro look that pays homage to Nike icons from the 80s/90s and athletes from around the world. The shoe is also adorned with subtle details that evoke the dynamism of Zion Williamson and is adorned by the player logos.
The Zion 2 will be introduced in 2 colorways : one sporty, the « Hope Diamond » which combines a white base with colorful accents in an abstract style, and the other more lifestyle oriented called « Voodoo ». As its name suggests, the latter is inspired by Voodoo dolls and features a brown/beige/green/grey color palette. It mixes several materials rarely seen on bballs : hemp with suede and faux fur.
The Jordan Zion 2 « Voodoo » will be released on June 22, 2022 in the United States for under $150. The « Hope Diamond » colorway will arrive a few days later on June 30, 2022. Europe and the rest of the world are expected to launch in the summer of 2022. Be ready !
