The young fashion designer @powtana is part of the class #3 of the CASA93 formation. She is the winner of the first edition of the JORDAN WINGS France design program, which supports young people with fewer opportunities, with the support of the retailer Courir. @powtana designed a t-shirt inspired by Paris and its suburbs.
The U.S. Jordan Wings program, which famed retailer COURIR is a part of, focuses on transforming the educational cycle of less advantaged youth so they can get into the career they want. Launched in Paris in 2020, Jordan Wings includes 3 partners invested in the professional integration of young people and defending equal opportunities for all. One of these partners is CASA93, a free professional training center for fashion and design, with no diploma requirements. The other two are PROMETHEE EDUCATION, which develops an educational system based on trust, connection and skills, and Le BAL, which works with young people in priority education networks on the decoding of images.
Jordan Brand, through the Jordan Wings, organized a design program with students from the CASA93 fashion center. The first edition took place in the first half of 2020. The youth had the opportunity to design a t-shirt on the given theme « What Unites Your City? » by respecting precise instructions. The designs were then presented to the jury. The winner @powtana seduced with her interpretation of the city of light and its suburbs.
The young artist wanted to put refined and neat white graphics on a black t-shirt. She explains that she mixed everything that symbolizes Paris and its suburbs : its diversity, history, art, architecture and culture. On the front of the shirt, we find maps of the metro and the R.E.R. alongside historical statues playing a basketball game, a nod to Jordan Brand and street culture. The famous slogan « Paris est magique » (Paris is magic) is placed underneath this combination of graphics, which is like a real work of art.
This exclusive @powtana t-shirt for the Jordan Wings x Casa93 program will be available starting May 19, 2021 on courir.com and in the Courir La Defense store, as well as at Nike House of Innovation. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to Jordan Wings and then directly reinvested in the program.
