After having started the year 2021 with a high-end collaboration with the Scottish shop HANON (article available HERE), the Italian brand DIADORA is looking into a subject that unfortunately is still relevant today : discrimination. Advocating equality and unity, DIADORA, the Philadelphia studio GARRIXON and Footlocker’s GREENHOUSE have joined forces to create a committed pair, the Duratech Elite « Limitless ».
The shoe was created by a group of middle and high school students from the 2019 « Straight to Feet » workshop of the New York-based agency Incorp[HER]ated, which advocates for diversity and inclusion.
The unisex sneaker features a mismatched design that represents the breaking of gender stereotypes. It benefits from a multi-material construction. The color palette is also rich and meaningful. We discover a bluish grey suede toe box with pink or blue leather overlays, depending on the foot, on the front part. The heels appear in opposite colors and feature the embroidered logo of the agency Incorp[HER]ated. On the side panels, the holographic DIADORA logo represents inclusivity for all. Touches of yellow, purple, black and white add an extra sense of diversity. The name of the pair « LIMITLESS » is engraved on the side heel. This strong word comes from the conviction that everyone can realize their dreams, have the life they want, despite the barriers and prejudices that may be encountered. An idea associated with the rising tennis athlete, Coco Gauff, known for challenging ageism, sexism and racism as she began her career as a tenniswoman. To finalize the look, the whole is based on a white midsole with touches of pink at the heel, combined with a blue outsole with a grey part under the midfoot.
