In 2017, Hiroshi Fujiwara and Chitose Abe, the respective founders of Fragment Design and Sacai, jointly revisited Converse’s flagship model, the Chuck Taylor. For some time now, rumors of a second collaboration between the two Japanese designers have appeared on social networks. This time, the giant Nike will be there. New pictures of this highly anticipated future project, based on the Nike LDWaffle, have been revealed.
The FRAGMENT DESIGN x SACAI x NIKE LDWaffle combines the Sacai design with Fragment’s signature color palette.
The shoe consists of a navy blue nylon upper with black suede overlays with navy blue contours. The laces appear in black ribbon and the double side Swoosh in white leather. The white colour was also chosen to define the double tongue, heel tab and inner lining. In terms of branding details, the « lighting bolt » Fragment logo is subtly engraved in tone-on-tone on the black suede mudguard. Probably the Nike and Sacai branding will be combined on the heel tab. The whole is based on the emblematic white double-layer midsole and the black waffle outsole.
The release date of the FRAGMENT DESIGN x SACAI x NIKE LDWaffle has not yet been specified. We don’t know if it will be available to the general public, stay tuned…
