Footpatrol x Mizuno ‘Post Match’ collection| 20th Anniversary

During this year 2022, the London-based store FOOTPATROL celebrated its 20th anniversary through interesting collaborations (several articles available on this website). To continue the festivities, the famous shop is back with the sports brand MIZUNO for a new collection named « Post Match ».

This new opus follows the Wave Rider 10 « Rust » released last summer, also as part of the 20th anniversary of the British store.

The « Post Match » capsule pays homage to the British national sport, soccer. It includes a revisited 1995 Mizuno Contender and a reworked classic soccer shirt.

For the design of these pieces, FOOTPATROL combined Astro Turf style with timeless Mizuno features.

The special Contender appears mostly in a black and grey color combination.

It consists of an upper combining premium black leather, reminiscent of Mizuno’s Morelia soccer shoes, with grey or black premium nubuck overlays. To complete the construction, the toe box and heel insert appear in washed grey suede. The iconic Runbird logo on the side is dressed in black patent leather and outlined in teal blue, which adds a nice, bold touch to the design. The bright hue is also evident on the upper eyelets, insole and inner tongue. The outside of the tongue is black with a large patch of glossy grey ‘FOOTPATROL 20th Anniversary’ branding. The FOOTPATROL branding is also engraved in gold on the heel, alongside reflective details. The whole is based on a comfortable white EVA molded midsole and an off-white and turquoise blue outsole.

The soccer jersey takes its inspiration from the 2001/2001 Fiorentina kit, produced by Mizuno for the Italian team.

Also in black and grey, the shirt features a ‘FP’ monogram on the left chest, accompanied by a Scudetto logo in the colors of the pride flag, with the aim of promoting equality in soccer and in everyday life. The MIZUNO branding appears on the other side of the chest, in a teal hue. Underneath, on the middle front of the jersey, the name of Soho record store RECKLESS RECORDS appears as the official sponsor. Other details include the inscription ‘EST. 2002′, which appears on the left sleeve and indicates the opening year of FOOTPATROL. Another logo is printed on the right sleeve and the co-branding completes the tribute. On the back, the famous ’20’ was designed with inspiration from the early Premier League issues and pays tribute to the anniversary year of the London shop.

The Footpatrol x Mizuno ‘Post Match’ | 20th Anniversary collection will be released on December 10, 2022 in stores and online at footpatrol.com. Prices are set at $182 (£149) for the pair of Contenders and $104 (£85) for the soccer shirt. Be ready !
