The G-SHOCK watch brand will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2023. To prepare for this important event, the CASIO sub-label, founded by brand engineer Kikuo Ibe, unveils its latest model : the GMW-B5000EH watch created in collaboration with New York graffiti artist Eric Haze.

G-SHOCK is known worldwide for being a reference in terms of resistant, durable and eye-catching watches. Over the years, it has collaborated with many other brands, artists and sportsmen in order to offer us more and more attractive models (several articles available on this site).

Eric Haze is a New York artist and designer who began his career in the early 1980s. He exhibited his work alongside other talents such as Keith Haring and Jean Michael Basquiat. After founding a design studio in the late 80’s, and then his own clothing After founding a design studio in the late 1980s and then his own clothing brand in the 1990s, Eric Haze has remained one of the most renowned designers in the world of contemporary design, street art and artist-led brand collaborations.

For this latest special « 40th anniversary » release from the watch brand, the New York-based artist designed the logos and identity for the GMW-B5000EH.

Since 1999, Eric Haze has frequently collaborated with G-SHOCK on various designs. In 2018, he was also the one who created the brand’s 35th anniversary logo for the special « RED OUT » collection.

This watch is the first all-metal G-SHOCK collaboration, based on the GMW-B5000D, which inherits the design of the very first G-SHOCK. Both premium and playful, the GMW-B5000EH model features a bracelet with the Haze signature. A black IP is applied to the stainless steel bracelet, which is then covered with laser-engraved dot patterns that replicate the artist’s work, all in a chic monochrome design. The logo designed by the graffiti artist for G-SHOCK’s 40th anniversary is engraved on the case back. Eric Haze’s pink graffiti logo appears on the watch’s display when the light is activated. The watch comes in a special black and grey co-branded case.

The G-SHOCK GMW-B5000EH, designed in collaboration with Eric Haze for the 40th anniversary of the brand, will be available soon for $720 in stores, including the G-SHOCK Store in Paris and Soho, and online at gshock.casio.com.
