The famous British retailer END. is once again partnering with German giant adidas to celebrate the iconic Superstar silhouette before the end of its 50th anniversary. Inspired by the prestigious Japanese ancestral art of « Sashiko », which has come back to the forefront in recent months, this Superstar is named « Alternative Luxury ».
The shoe consists of an upper in white leather, nearly off-white, with inserts in various materials and colors. These textile elements include typical Sashiko stitching to affirm the design. We find a raw blue denim laceguard, a tongue made of a cozy checkered fabric in a variety of bright colors, and the adidas three stripes in ocean blue embellished with ultra-visible white stitching that contribute to the Japanese-inspired art design. The suede heel tabs are mismatched, grass green for the right foot and deep burgundy for the left shoe. The emblematic rubber shell on the toe box, inner lining and laces in off-white color harmonize the look. Gold leaf applied branding, such as END. replacing the Superstar name in parallel of the 3 side stripes, the adidas trefoil logo on the heel and co-branding on the off-white insole add an extra touch of elegance to the pair. The whole is based on an off-white sole with the iconic stitching in tone-on-tone.
The END. x adidas Superstar « Alternative Luxury » will be accessible via a draw. Registration is now open at launches.endclothing.com and will close on September 19, 2020. Sizes range from UK 6 to UK 12, priced at 135€.
