The New Balance 990v3 silhouette continues to seduce big names in sneaker design. Just days after the release of the iteration designed in collaboration with JJJJOUND (article available HERE), a special DTRL « Miami Drive » version has just surfaced.
The first glimpse of this collaborative pair was given by June Sanders, DTRL’s product design manager, on his instagram account.
The American brand chose the theme of “Miami Vice” to reinvent the 990v3.
This new version is dressed mostly in grey, contrasted by vibrant accents of pink, orange and turquoise referring to the landscapes of the city of Miami, in this case sunsets / sunrises and the ocean.
It consists of a mesh base, complemented by suede overlays. The pink hue is positioned on the heel reinforcement, orange appears at the collar, and turquoise stands out at the iconic side N logo outline, tongue branding, and inserts on the toe box and under the ankle. The pair also benefits from a silver heel tab, probably reflective, and a white and grey Encap midsole. The whole is based on a two-tone pink and orange outsole that harmoniously completes the design.
