The famous rapper, songwriter-producer, businessman and designer Travis SCOTT continues his rise in the fashion world and shakes up the codes of haute-couture. After successful collabs with Jordan Brand, Playstation and others (articles available on this site), the Houston artist has teamed up with the luxury house DIOR.
This collaboration between the artistic director of DIOR, Kim Jones, and Travis Scott is a historical fact. The French house said in a statement provided exclusively to WWD, « This unprecedented event represents the first complete Dior collection ever created with a musician for the house ».
Travis Scott and his Cactus Jack brand have been close to Dior for some time. Most notably, the Flame helped highlight the Jordan Brand x Dior « Air Dior » capsule collection released last year.
Kim Jones is also a fine collaborator. We remember the 2017 Vuitton x Supreme collab that brought streetwear closer to luxury. The famous designer therefore continues on his idea of calling on an artist each season to bring his personal touch to a selection of pieces. After Shawn Stussy and recently Daniel Arsham, it’s the turn of the popular Houston artist to express his style on luxury pieces.
Travis Scott and Kim Jones have teamed up to create Dior’s Summer 2022 menswear collection. Currently in the Parisian capital for Fashion Week, the Texas rapper appeared in a Cactus Jack x Dior outfit that seems to be a premise for the upcoming line. We could discover a white t-shirt and a brown velvet shirt with a branding coupling the 2 logos, as well as a brown pants also.
The Dior x Travis Scott collection will be unveiled on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 2:30 pm CET, during the Paris Fashion Week for Men (the first physical show of the brand since 18 months). The display will also be livestreamed on dior.com.
