Advocating diversity and culture, DAILY PAPER continues to explore new horizons through a new collaboration. After recently teaming up with design label FATBOY (article available HERE), the Dutch streetwear brand is now interested in watchmaking. It unveils its first ever collaboration with Japanese pioneer G-SHOCK and reinterprets the iconic 1983 model, the DW-5600.
This digital watch, known for its waterproofness, resistance to harsh conditions and extreme sports, is imbued with the DNA of both partners and represents their shared love for music, art, fashion and street culture.
It’s adorned with multiple nostalgic symbols to celebrate the respective heritage of DAILY PAPER and G-SHOCK. Dressed simply in black, this model features Daily Paper’s DP SS21 monogram on the strap and dial. The Daily Paper branding placed just above the screen is also visible when the EL backlight is on. On the back of the case, we discover the watermarked logo surrounded by the characteristics of this G-SHOCK.
The watch comes in a specially designed package.
To accentuate the 90’s inspiration, the campaign is a Casio ad reinterpreted through the lens of Daily Paper. It tells an abstract story about time and culture with pan-African visuals dear to the Amsterdam brand. The silhouettes are dark and contrast with the clean white background. Also, some visuals are oversized to assert the retro aesthetic.
The Daily Paper x G-SHOCK will be released during September 2021 exclusively at the G-SHOCK Store Paris, in the Marais district. The price is set at 176$ (149€).
