Chinese retailer COSTS continues to expand its popularity by presenting us with eye-catching collabs. After working recently with Asics, the Shenzhen-based shop is now teaming up for the first time with the legendary Californian brand Vans.
The 2 partners will launch a series of co-branded custom « Antique » models in limited edition.
The design chosen refers to traditional culture and free expression. It also pays tribute to the roots of the 2 brands in street culture and artistic self-expression.
Specifically, the design was inspired by the archaeological artifacts of human civilization.
This particular look was applied to Vans’ iconic silhouettes : the Era and Sk8-Hi.
These special editions feature an earthy upper, combining solid beige inserts with darker ones adorned with khaki and black graphics mimicking the ancient human writing code. These patterns symbolize the transmission of traditional architectural culture. They are applied on the toe box on the Era and on the side panels for the Sk8-Hi. The look of these pairs allows to go back to the origin of man and evokes the deep and buried desire of expression and originality. To confirm the collab, the COSTS branding is embroidered in thick white thread on the back, just above the iconic red and white VANS Off The Wall badge. The inner lining, laces and vulcanized sole are presented in white, highlighting the special patterns of these collaborative shoes.
The COSTS x Vans « monuments » custom pattern series will be available starting October 24, 2022 via Vans Customs and Vans Tmall. Be ready !
