COSTS X KENNY WONG X ASICS GEL-SPOTLYTE LOW

A few weeks ago, I told you in an article (available HERE) about the latest collaboration between the Chinese retailer COSTS, the Chinese artist Kenny Wong and the Japanese brand ASICS. This collab is part of the ASICS Call Of Champhoods 2022 campaign which has for theme the ocean and the « new wave ». It’s the last part of the campaign.

Having had the chance to receive it, I suggest you to discover it in pictures on my feet.

Released in 1992, the ASICS GEL-Spotlyte is the signature shoe of NBA star Isiah Thomas.

Inspired by the notion of « diver » of the ocean, this sneaker also refers to the combination between the city, the sea and the street culture. The design expresses a beautiful creativity but also Shenzhen’s commitment to marine preservation.

It consists of a base combining a toe box and grey quarter panels, with overlays in 2 shades of blue. To complete the look and tribute, the iconic Tiger Stripes appear in metallic silver, while the heel tab and inner lining are presented in orange. The collab is affirmed by the COSTS logo on the right heel tab and Kenny Wong’s signature on the left heel tab. On each heel, we discover an engraved compass and a small symbol on the mudguard. The whole is based on a white midsole, with a blue stitching on the front of the foot, and on outsole tricolored matching the upper.

I find the color code of this collaboration successful. Not knowing this silhouette, I was pleasantly surprised by the comfort of this shoe. The quality of materials and finishes are correct. I validate in 100% this project from China. Big up to the Costs team.
