Concert SO LA LUNE at the METRONUM in Toulouse

As part of a new tour to promote his album “Fissure de vie” as well as his various projects released since May 2022, the Lyon-based artist SO LA LUNE came to the pink city for a second time on Saturday, April 29, 2023. Supported by Euterpe Promotion, an agency based in the south-west of France, the concert took place this time in the Metronum hall in Toulouse. The show was sold out, synonymous with a growing reputation since his date at the Rex to close his first tour in June 2022.

A return to the Comoros, his country of origin, as a teenager allowed the artist to find himself. His stage name reflects this pivotal moment in his life : a contraction between his first name and the nickname of the Comoros archipelago (Islands of the Moon). Active since 2019, SO LA LUNE is quickly noticed by his unique voice and the sincerity of his writing, making these two traits his trademark. The young rapper hits hard with sounds that are still very well known and appreciated by his audience, including “Billy” and “Fissure de vie 23”.
The artist from Lyon released his first project “Tsuki” in 2020, and it includes feats with other artists of his label Low Wood, such as Elh Kmer, or Rouge Carmin. The following year, in 2021, his career takes a drastic turn. Indeed, SO LA LUNE released no less than 7 EP’s of 5 tracks each. Among all these tracks, we find “Rodé”, his biggest success, which is still today his most streamed track on the platforms.

The first part started around 8:30 pm, and was provided by the promising Yung Poor Alo and his team. A simple and effective scenography, summarized perfectly with a black flag with the title of his new project written in white letters “Jeune Pauvre 3”, brandished by the members of his team. A first part full of energy, testifying of the will of Yung Poor Alo to succeed. After about twenty explosive minutes, the young rapper left the stage, not leaving the crowd indifferent.

An interlude of about ten minutes followed, provided by VRSA Drip, beatmaker of SO LA LUNE, who accompanies him on most of his scenes. The chosen titles oscillated between french groups 13 Block and PNL, allowing to keep the crowd in suspense.

Around 9pm, SO LA LUNE made its entrance on stage. A stage soberly dressed with a giant led screen in its center. The artist chose a simple and uncluttered scenography, leaving room only for the expression of his music. The entrance was accompanied by a great excitement of the public, which chanted “La Lune, la Lune !” before the rapper even had time to start singing. The first track, “Bonhomme de neige,” immediately captured the attention of the crowd, and made the fans of the first hour smile.

At the end of the sound, Hady, present on stage at all the concerts of SO LA LUNE, greeted the crowd, and took advantage of it to ask for many applause. Hady’s role is essential for the good performance of the show : he takes the floor between each sound to address the public, he must keep the crowd dynamic and invested.
Despite the fact that SO LA LUNE does not speak directly to the audience, the connection with the audience is real. It’s as if he doesn’t need to speak at all, but only to rap. His music speaks for him. Nevertheless, this peculiarity does not bother the audience at all, who understand and accept this unique trait.

Hady then informed the Toulouse crowd about the quick opening of the score of the soccer team TFC against FC Nantes in the final of the French Cup and SO LA LUNE continued with more recent titles : “Guérison”, “Retour de Flamme” or “Vie d’avant”, but not hesitating to make a detour to songs less known by his young audience, like “Seven Up” or “Afar”. The first highlight of the concert was reached with the title “Rodé”, which some lucky audience members had the privilege to live directly with the artist on stage. Following this moment of euphoria, the crowd was treated to several announcements about the score of the French Cup final, and SO LA LUNE continued with more introspective tracks, such as “Outrône”, the closing track of the album ‘Fissure de vie’.
The concert ended with “Rodé”, which was played for the second time of the evening. It was at this point that the audience let loose the most and the artist’s team came on stage to commune with the crowd in these final moments. Some members of the team, including the manager of SO LA LUNE, Alexis, threw themselves into the crowd.

For his second concert in Toulouse, SO LA LUNE gave us a great show, naturally better controlled than the first one. The rapper from Lyon continues to fascinate the world of rap and in particular certain headliners. We can quote SCH who recently called upon him on his title ” Transmission Automatique “. SO LA LUNE continues his rise in the industry and closes this tour with a date at the Olympia on May 17, also sold out. We hope to see him again soon for a third date in Toulouse !
