The famous Boston CONCEPTS boutique continues to partner with leading sportswear brands to create sneakers with character. After finishing the year 2020 with a Nike SB Dunk High inspired by nature and more specifically the mallard duck (article available HERE), CONCEPTS begins 2021 by collaborating with Converse to pay tribute to the origins of basketball. A « Southern Flame » pack composed of a Chuck 70 and an All Star BB EVO is presented to us today.
The choice of these silhouettes highlights Converse’s deep roots in the sport and the label’s recent return to top-level basketball. The Chuck 70 is the very first basketball shoe ever created and the All Star BB EVO is a new modern sneaker with optimized performance.
With this pack, both partners celebrate the birth of basketball. Its history goes back 130 years. In 1891, Dr. James Naismith wrote the original 13 rules of the game while teaching at the YMCA training school in Springfield, Massachusetts. Dr. James Naismith drew inspiration from fishing baskets to develop the first hoops. The round ball had to pass through this hoop to score points. Basketball was born.
The Chuck 70 revisited consists of a suede upper in a red and orange gradient. We discover green and fuzzy laces, a nod to fishing nets. The legendary circular white Converse badge on the ankle is adorned with equally green lettering to ensure a harmonious design. The whole is based on a classic white midsole with an orange border.
The All Star BB EVO is an updated version of the All Star Pro BB. It was introduced in 2019. For this project, CONCEPTS decided to channel the game in a playful way with a mix of Shadow Lime and Green Oasis colorways. The synthetic upper thus appears in shades of green with touches of peach and yellow accents, such as the flocked Star Chevron logo on each side and a piping at the tip. Branded details adorn the tongue and lower part of the heel. A semi-translucent light yellow sole completes the look.
The Concepts x Converse All Star BB EVO & Chuck 70 « Southern Flame » pack will be available January 28, 2021 at CONCEPTS stores in Boston and New York, online at cncpts.com and converse.com, and at select retailers.
