In addition to offering successful collabs, like the latest one with Nike based on the Air Max 1, the Boston-based shop CONCEPTS develops projects to support communities through sports. Over the last weekend, Tarek Hassen and his team worked with organizers Kyle Umemba and Cesar Castro to support their 7th annual basketball tournament and scholarship fund, the LET IT FLY.
The LET IT FLY Classic has been in existence since 2005 and is held on the 2nd Saturday of August. This sporting event brings together the best talent in the Greater Boston area. It welcomes over 100 spectators and raises money for scholarships and education after high school.
Of the tournament, co-founder Kyle Umemba said, « When creating Let It Fly, our mission was always to inspire the community beyond what they see and shoe them than anything is possible. Concepts’ presence and efforts undeniably bolstered that vision and helped us show the community how far two kids with a dream, drive, and love for the city could take it. »
To support this event and honor its growing impact on the community, CONCEPTS created a summer basketball capsule.
It consists of a graphic white short-sleeve t-shirt featuring the green CONCEPTS branding on the chest, as well as a multi-colored basketball print and typical markings including the Boston shop’s founding date : 1996. Two shorts are also proposed, one orange and the other teal green. They are adorned with black/white stripes on the sides and lower legs, and the multi-colored CONCEPTS branding in the shape of a basketball.
