The famous Japanese brand COMME des GARÇONS has once again teamed up with French outdoor label Salomon. Unveiled last March during the presentation of CdG’s Autumn/Winter 2021 collection, this collaboration appears in more detail today. It includes two Salomon silhouettes, the X-A Alpine 2 and the Cross.
Rei Kawakubo and her team have reworked these silhouettes to perfectly match the style of the collection.
The Cross has undergone the biggest transformation. It has a look that combines outdoor technicality with fashionable elegance. It features an iconic houndstooth pattern in the midfoot and sock area. The front, eyelets and laces are in black. The comfortable midsole and the high-performance Contragrip outsole are also black to ensure the design. Salomon branding is discreetly displayed on the tongue label and insole, while the white COMME des GARÇONS logo appears in contrasting white on the side heel.
The collaborative X-A Alpine 2 is available in two monochrome colorways, black and white. This sneaker boot is equipped with Salomon’s technical elements and materials, including the zipper from the toe box to the ankle and the Contragrip outsole. On the black pair, only the COMME des GARÇONS branding on the side heel provides a touch of contrast with its white colour, while the Salomon logos appear in tone on tone. The white pair has all the black branding details. Both versions have a tonal Contagrip sole.
The COMME des GARÇONS x Salomon XA-Alpine 2 & Cross will be released on October 28, 2021 in COMME des GARÇONS and Dover Street Market shops worldwide. They will also be available at selected retailers.
