Comme des Garçons PLAY x K-Way « Leon Half Zip » & « Claude Full Zip »

Legendary windbreaker brand K-WAY presents an exclusive collaboration with fashion label Comme des Garçons PLAY. Rei Kawakubo’s innovative Japanese label has brought its touch to 2 of the French label’s flagship models, the « Leon Half Zip » and « Claude Full Zip ».

K-WAY is the name of the waterproof clothing brand famous for its foldable nylon windbreaker that fits into a practical fanny pack. Founded in Pas-de-Calais (France) in 1965 by Léon-Claude Duhamel, K-WAY was a great success until the end of the 1980s. The following decade was more difficult, with strong competition and management problems. Bought by the Italian group Basic Net S.p.A in 2004, K-WAY changed direction to face this « first price » competition. It goes upmarket, diversifies and invites itself in the fashion category. The French brand then proposes beautiful projects, such as limited series signed by Philippe Starck or Marc Jacobs, and collabs with fashion labels such as Maje or like the one presented today with Comme des Garçons PLAY.

Launched in 2002, Comme des Garçons PLAY is the sister brand of CDG. It offers casual clothing with an avant-garde touch. This branch features classic pieces with clean prints and variations of the Comme des Garçons logo : a heart with protruding eyes, created by New York artist Filip Pagowski.

The « Leon Half Zip » and « Claude Full Zip » jackets can be considered like must-haves in terms of waterproof outdoor pieces. Season after season, they have made their way into the wardrobes of the most stylish people. So in addition to being a premium technical brand, K-WAY has gradually become a fashion reference.

Comme des Garçons PLAY has reworked these two unisex and timeless K-WAY models to further accentuate their fashionable and avant-garde dimension. The Leon Half Zip and Claude Full Zip jackets come in two varieties, in neutral shades of white, beige or navy, or in bolder colors of orange, red or blue. They are made of Ripstop nylon, known for its waterproofness and resistance, and have a straight cut to suit all types of people. In addition to being functional, these jackets are comfortable and stylish. They feature the iconic red Comme des Garçons PLAY « heart and eyes » logo on the upper back and chest along with the K-WAY branding.

The Comme des Garçons PLAY x K-Way collection will be released on December 11, 2021 at Comme des Garçons stores and Dover Street Market as well as online at doverstreetmarket.com, priced at 280$ (£215) per piece.
