The South Korean label THISISNEVERTHAT continues to present us with interesting collaborations. The latest one is a « New Vintage » collection designed with the legendary brand Converse. This project marks the very first association between the 2 brands.
Passionate about fashion and street culture, the 3 founders of THISISNEVERTHAT, Cho Nadan, Choi Jonkyu and Park Inwook, were inspired by the street style of the 90s to create this collaborative collection.
It’s articulated around footwear and clothing. On the sneakers side, we find a reinterpreted One Star and Chuck 70, and for the clothes, 2 t-shirts, a pant and a jacket and 2 beanies are offered.
The shoes are adorned with faded colors, retro materials and elements and yellowed details to ensure the look 90’s sought. The textile pieces have vintage cuts and design.
The One Star comes in distressed navy blue nubuck with the famous « Star » logo in black on the quarter panel. The inner lining, laces and vulcanized sole match the side logo in black.
The Chuck 70 features a beige hairy suede upper that matches the yellowed sole perfectly. To complete the retro look, the legendary Converse ankle badge is embellished with black zig-zag stitching. The white color applied to the rubber toe box, inner lining and laces completes the look.
A touch of modernity is added to the 2 silhouettes : the insoles and the underside of the outsoles are dressed in teal. They feature metallic eyelets, black stitching on the tongue and a line of manufacturing details on the side of the midsole.
The textile pieces are presented in shades that match the sneakers and are made from high-end materials.
The THISISNEVERTHAT x Converse « New Vintage » collection will first be released on October 31, 2021 at the THISISNEVERTHAT store in Seoul Hongdae. It will then be available online on November 3, 2021 in Europe and the United States at converse.com and selected retailers, and then at thisisneverthat.com one day later on November 4, 2021.
