Collection SUPREME x SOUTH2 WEST8
A few days after giving us a glimpse of the 3rd colorway of the Air Max 96 designed with Nike (article available HERE), the famous New York streetwear brand SUPREME unveils a new collaboration part of its Spring/Summer 2021 collection. For this next drop, the label of James Jebbia has partnered with the Japanese specialist of fishing clothes : SOUTH2 WEST8.
SOUTH2 WEST8, like NEEDLES and Engineered Garments, is a sub-brand of the label NEPHENTHES. Founded in 2003 in the north of Japan, in Hokkaido, SOUTH2 WEST 8 is directed by Kaname Nagaoka and is inspired by Tenkara, a traditional Japanese fly fishing technique. They design technical, functional and resistant outdoor clothing with a particular stylistic touch not common in the fishing world.
The collection developed with SUPREME combines technical materials and bold design. Some pieces appear in black while most are adorned with multicolored prints reminiscent of camo and/or barbed wire graphics. The SUPREME brand also appears in a lettering referring to barbed wire.
Technical ensembles, t-shirts, fleece jackets and a range of accessories are available. In particular, SUPREME has revisited the River Treck jacket and pants, as well as the Parka, Vest, Classic Pants and Bush Belt Pants. A two-tone fleece jacket with barbed wire pattern was also made. In terms of accessories, a bag, hood, bucket hat, wire headdress and even a fishing rod are offered.
The SUPREME x SOUTH2 WEST8 collection will be released on Thursday, April 22, 2021 in stores and on the supremenewyork.com website. It will be launched in Japan two days later, on April 24, 2021.
