New York-based designer Sandy Liang unveils a 3rd collaboration with California-based brand Vans. While she presented a collaborative capsule honoring the famous cartoon Sponge Bob last June (article available HERE), the designer was inspired by her childhood memories to develop this new project.
This complete collection, footwear and apparel, revisits emblematic Vans’ models by giving them a retro 90’s look.
Sandy Liang reworked 4 iconic silhouettes, the Sk8-Hi, Authentic 44 DX, Style 73 DX and Half Cab 33 DX. Rooted in childhood nostalgia, some of these sneakers are adorned with playful prints such as small flowers, butterflies or smileys. Others are dressed in eye-catching colors and cozy materials, like sherpa on the Half Cab. Also on display is the all-new Sk8-Hi Tapered Modular in black with a white lace embroidered collar and removable rubber sole insert. The Authentic features a small pouch added at the laces.
To accompany these shoes, textile pieces in the same playful spirit have been created. Pants, fleece jackets, hoodies, t-shirts, skirts, knitted mini-dresses and pleated skirts are offered. These clothes have some childish prints seen on the shoes and are dressed in trendy colors reminiscent of the 90’s.
The Sandy Liang x Vans collection will be released on January 28, 2022, at most Vans stores, select retailers and online at vans.com and sandyliang.info.
