With its new projects and recent quality collaborations, German brand PUMA is looking to regain a prominent place in the game. The legendary equipment manufacturer presents us its first ever collaboration with the Parisian high-end brand, Maison Kitsuné.
The label, founded by Gildas Loeäc and Masaya Kuroki in 2002, has brought its « Paris-meets-Tokyo » aesthetic to PUMA’s classic sporty style. The fusion of Japanese and French design elements is incorporated into Puma’s DNA, to rework traditional pieces in a modern, elegant and minimalist spirit.
The color palette is heterogeneous but consists mainly of tonal and earthy hues. To ensure a good balance, the color bright yellow enhances the design.
This rich collection embodies an « urban chic » style and features tracksuits, sweatshirts and t-shirts, as well as utilitarian pieces in technical fabrics such as cargo pants and shorts, military jackets and rain capes. The signature logos of the two brands are combined, the Puma and the Fox, embroidered or printed and sometimes dressed in the colors of the French flag.
The collaborative capsule is complemented by a range of accessories to match the clothing including caps, bucket hats, backpacks and waist bags.
Sneakers were also revisited : the Puma Ralph Sampson silhouette in Mid and Low version, and the Puma Roma. The key element of the Ralph Sampson is the molded rubber mudguard. The Mid version consists of a black nylon upper with that encompassing beige overlay and a matching sole. The Low iteration comes in two colorways : black/bright yellow and white/pearl grey. The Puma Roma takes on a darker, sleeker look. It features a white leather upper with a rubber sole bringing contrast and retro elegance.
The Puma x Maison Kitsuné collection will be released on March 27, 2021 at select retailers and online at puma.com and maisonkitsune.com.
