Last year, the famous Amsterdam shop PATTA proposed us a very first collaboration with the legendary American brand TOMMY HILFIGER. After paying tribute to the liberation of Blacks in the world, the 2 partners are happy to present us their second collection which brings back to the forefront the New York hip-hop spirit of the 90s.
This collaborative capsule reinterprets classic styles and takes us back to the New York of the 90’s that saw the birth of iconic East Coast groups such as Wu-Tang Clan, The Lox, Ruff Ryders and Mobb Deep to name a few. In addition to thunderous flows and revolutionary prods, these artists created clothing styles that still influence today’s fashion trends. The golden age of hip-hop was also the golden age of streetwear.
Edson Sabajo, co-founder of Patta, said : « The collection is essentially an ode to New York City and the 90s, one of the golden eras of hip-hop. This city has been instrumental to both brands, as has the genre and its culture. »
The collection consists of 18 gender-neutral styles. Preppy basics have been reworked to have a timeless casual fit.
The iconic Regatta jacket retains much of its DNA, with its combination of yellow/navy blue and red interior. A Sport Navy Varsity jacket highlights 1993, a pivotal year in hip-hop history. Hoodies, crewnecks and t-shirts complete the capsule. These pieces feature the Tommy Hilfilger logo revisited with the Patta branding in the middle. The 2 partners also designed 2 t-shirts for kids that feature a modern streetwear design combined with a 90’s New York vibe.
For the campaign, Patta and Tommy Hilfiger tapped New York native artists Wiki (@wikset) and Mike (@mikelikesrap) as the lead personalities to symbolize the raw resurgence of hip-hop. The duo created an original track, produced by renowned music producer The Alchemist (@alanthechemist). The limited edition 12-inch vinyl features various mixes including clean, dirty and instrumental versions as well as two additional tracks featuring Mike and Wiki independently. Patta and Tommy Hilfiger had this sound clipped by director Nicholas Stafford Briggs and lifestyle photographer Quil Lemons. The scene is set in New York City and pays further homage to the birthplace of hip hop, its culture, impact and influence that is still present today.
The Patta x Tommy collection will be released from December 2, 2022, in Patta stores and online at pattaxtommy.com. It will then be available at select retailers worldwide on December 9, 2022. Be ready !
