As every year, Nike will release a collection inspired by the Mexican holiday of the dead « Dia de Meurtos » during the month of October. One of the most important celebrations of Mexican culture is honored in this 2022 edition through 2 Air Force Lows, an Air Max 1 and a Dunk High « Somos Familia ».
These pairs have a look that pays tribute to Mexican art and craftsmanship. They dress with special patterns and warm colors.
A first AF 1 Low was presented last August (article available HERE).
The second Air Force 1 Low consists of an upper mixing mesh, with leather and suede. The light yellow base features embroidered white circular patterns and is complemented by beige overlays and a two-tone red/white Swoosh. The white part is adorned with visible stitching and the side heel features a black butterfly engraving that symbolizes the « Somos Familia » theme. The latter color is also found to define the heel tab, tongue tag and sole. An additional touch of color is provided by an orange inner lining.
The Air Max 1 is dressed in a cream color palette and orange hues. It consists of a burlap upper with suede overlays. To affirm the design, the mudguard is covered in detailed, circular etched patterns. The side Swoosh appears in yellow and the upper eyelets add an extra touch of color with its green hue. The insole also comes in green and features the yellow SOMOS FAMILIA butterfly logo. A two-tone orange/yellow pull-on and green embroidery on the heel complete the look. The whole is based on a cream midsole and a semi-translucent gum outsole.
The Dunk High features an upper that mixes mesh with suede and leather. The textile base is divided into 2, one side appears black and the other brown. It’s decorated with a large orange and green embroidery pattern. The leather overlays are distinguished by orange-yellow color and the inner lining is dressed in orange. The pair benefits from a dark red suede side swoosh, butterfly logo engraved on the heel counter and a two-tone heel pull. To finalise the design, the midsole stands out in white and the outsole is made of gum.
These pairs will be delivered in new boxes, specially designed for the occasion.
