Last January, streetwear fans were delighted to learn that KAWS and THE NORTH FACE had joined forces for the very first time to create an exclusive collection (article available HERE). Following the success of this first iconic collection, the partners got together to design a second collaboration for the Fall/Winter 2022 season.
Brian Donnelly, better known by his nickname KAWS, replaces the bright colors of the inaugural capsule with understated and rather neutral tones : white/cream or black.
In terms of design, the abstract camouflage pattern and The North Face co-branding paired with KAWS’ legendary « XX » logo stand out on each piece in subtle or more contrasting ways.
The New York-based artist brought his signature touch to The North Face items from the Expedition System line. This line was originally designed to combat the extreme cold of exploring Antarctica and the Himalayas. So the collection consists of Nuptse down jackets 1996, Mountain jackets 1986, Denali fleece jackets and pants 1995, and Himalayan parkas 1994.
It also includes hoodies, pants, and long and short sleeve t-shirts and an assortment of accessories : beanies, Nuptse mittens, duffle bags and 4 versions of the ThermoBall Traction mule.
The KAWS x The North Face collection will be released on October 25, 2022 in store, at selected retailers like SNS and BSTN, and on the special thenorthface.com/kaws.html website where you will need to register in advance to become an XPLR Pass member and get exclusive access. Let’s go !
