After having recently offered us several sneakers paying tribute to the Star Wars universe (articles available on this site), the German giant adidas continues its partnership with the legendary Walt Disney Company and joins forces with the illustrator Kasing Lung to highlight the mythical character Mickey Mouse. The collection includes three iconic silhouettes, the Superstar, Stan Smith and Nizza Hi.
Kasing Lung brings his signature graffiti style to the shoes. It features the bold colorful ambiance of the designer’s artworks, as well as a nod to his most popular character, Labubu. The 9 sharp, pointed teeth of Labubu can be found on the revisited Mickey’s sneakers. This collection tells the story of Mickey in a science-fiction space, transforming himself into a mad scientist who explores time and space and projects him into various new places.
The 3 silhouettes are dressed in a white base embellished with illustrations by Kasing Lung. To highlight these works, the laces and the inner lining are also white. The white insoles feature coupled brandings and red scientific formulas.
The iconic 50-year-old leather Superstar is embellished with a Mickey with burgundy gloves among brightly colored planets and a grey flying saucer. On the other side, a part of the Earth, a rocket and a text « Fangtastic science experience! » (fangtastic science experience!) complete the picture. The tongue decorated on a yellow background, 3 clocks drawn in black on the edge of the midsole and the 3 transparent adidas side stripes allowing to fully appreciate the illustration, finalize the design.
The popular Stan Smith in leather features a scientific, perhaps evil Mickey, in blue gloves handling a vial containing a green mixture. Red and blue projections as well as white clouds with black contours descending to white midsole complete the look. On the other side, we discover buildings and 3 large black arrows pointing to the sky. The legendary face of Stan Smith adorning the tongue branding is topped with a beautiful yellow « king » crown.
The classic Nizza Hi consists of a smooth leather upper with a yellowed rubber insert on the toe and light grey suede on the heel. Mickey appears as a proud scientist in green gloves on a pink background, with meticulous graphics all around. On the other side, lightning bolts and yellow, red and blue bubbles, as well as a circular stamp with the adidas tagline « the brand with the 3 stripes» in different languages complete the design. Colorful top eyelets, scientific formulas and a red line on the yellowed midsole slice complete the design.
The Kasing Lung x Mickey Mouse x adidas Collection will be released on December 12, 2020 in Asia/Pacific for around 100€ per pair. The launch in Europe and the United States is yet to be confirmed, so stay tuned…
