Since 2011, Jordan Brand launches special products every year to celebrate the Chinese New Year (various articles available on this site). The Jumpman brand unveils its official CNY 2022 line under the sign of the Tiger.
To mark this year of the Tiger, Jordan Brand has reworked 3 of its flagship silhouettes, the AJ1 Low, AJ6 Low and the Jordan Legacy 312, by adorning them with an evocative motif or by drawing inspiration from the historical craftsmanship of China.
The centerpiece of this footwear collection is the Air Jordan 1 Low OG, which is dressed in a tiger-inspired color block with a calligraphy-style tiger print. The light yellow base featuring the black tiger stripes is toned down with cream overlays. Orange accents add character to the shoe. They appear on the tongue branding, the heel tab and discreetly on the overlay finishes. To complete the look, black was chosen to define the iconic side Swoosh, satin inner lining and laces. The whole is based on a white midsole and a semi-translucent yellowed gum outsole revealing the iconic black Wings logo under the foot. This special version is ultra limited, only 5000 pairs available and individually numbered.
The Air Jordan 6 Low and Air Jordan Legacy 312 have a more subdued look that pays homage to Chinese craftsmanship and more specifically to the Ge Kiln porcelain produced during the Song Dynasty. They feature a crackled leather upper referencing the porcelain and presented in a harmonious combination of white, light green and light grey shades. To complete the look, gold accents appear at some of the branding details and the heel clip. An elegant white midsole coupled with a semi-translucent icy outsole finalizes the design.
To accompany this CNY 2022 footwear collection, an assortment of clothing will be offered. It will include a reversible orange/black aviator jacket, tiger shirts, hoodies, turtlenecks and graphic t-shirts.
