For a few days, the legendary brand Vans Vault has been revealing some very interesting collabs to come. After the Authentic silhouette revisited by Salehe Bembury’s SPUNGE brand and the Slip-On LX collection honoring KITH’s 10th anniversary (articles available on this site), the Californian label has teamed up with JJJJOUND to reimagine the legendary Sk8-Mid silhouette.
The Canadian design studio founded by Justin Saunders already has some great footwear collaborations to its credit. As the young independent graphic designer explained, JJJJOUND is all about « beautiful and cool » in a clean, minimalist style. This new collaboration with Vans Vault extends Justin Saunders’ signature design on iconic sneakers. The single photo shared by JJJJOUND gives a sneak peek at some sleek and understated collaborative Sk8-Mid colorways, 3 to be exact. The black version is subtly different from the other 2 colorways. It features a tonal side stripe and laces, while the olive green and earth brown iterations are adorned with a white stripe and matching laces. In terms of construction, these shoes consist of a suede base with a leather side stripe. All versions feature white contrast stitching and a black racing stripe around the iconic white midsole. A black inner lining and white and black « Off The Wall » tongue branding ensure the look. The finishing touch is the classic vulcanized outsole.
