Iconic Japanese brands HUMAN MADE and UNDERCOVER have teamed up to create a new collection « Last Orgy 2 ». The 2 streetwear icons have also invited the artist VERDY, who is also the founder of the fashion label GIRLS DON’T CRY, to participate in this project.
If you are a fan of Japanese street culture, the name « Last Orgy » should be familiar to you.
Originally, « Last Orgy » was a monthly column by Hiroshi Fujiwara and his musician friend Kan Takagi that appeared in the magazine TAKARAJIMA from 1987. This name is taken from a song of the rap group (Tiny Panx) that Fujiwara and Takagi had formed in the 80s. In this column, the 2 friends discussed the things they liked : music, movies, clothes, sneakers… everything that touches what is called today Street Culture. It was so successful that a spin-off TV series with the same name started airing on FM-TV in Japan.
NIGO and Jun Takahashi were among the many fans of the exchanges between Hiroshi Fujiwara and Kan Takagi. In the early 90’s, the two took over and in addition to the column, they launched « Last Orgy 2 » clothes in their NOWHERE store located in the famous Harajuku district. These items were sold alongside NIGO’s BAPE and Jun Takahashi’s UNDERCOVER collections.
The legendary « Last Orgy 2 » column was relaunched in 2021 in the popular magazine GQ Japan under the updated name « Last Orgy 2.1 ».
To accompany this return, NIGO and Jun Takahashi also collaborated on an apparel collection. They invited VERDY to add his signature lettering on some pieces. The artist also designed the lettering for « Last Orgy 2.1 ». HUMAN MADE and UNDERCOVER each offer items in different colors ranging from grey to burgundy, black, white and green.
The collection includes 4 styles in 2 or 3 colorways : a coach jacket, a hoodie, a crewneck and a short sleeve t-shirt. These pieces are adorned with contrasting color and University style graphics that give them an attractive retro look.
The HUMAN MADE x UNDERCOVER « Last Orgy 2 » collection will be released on February 5, 2022 on partner sites, humanmade.jp and store.undercoverism.com. Be ready !
