In addition to the Carhartt and Dickies brands, DOCKERS offers collections with an attractive aesthetic mixing lifestyle and workwear. The Levis Group label teamed up with Matthias Dandois, the 9-time BMX Flatland World Champion, to create an original capsule rooted in vintage BMX culture.

Launched in 1986 in San Francisco by the LEVI STRAUSS COMPANY group, DOCKERS developed the ideal pants for the office, the ‘Khaki’ chino, bridging the gap between youth culture (jeans) and the office uniform (the suit). This brand is also at the origin of the “Casual Friday” trend and is currently available in 60 countries on six continents. The brand has become a benchmark for its original designs: comfortable, casual and timeless basics, designed to be versatile and durable. Thoughtful innovations and meaningful details have always served a purpose for DOCKERS, not a trend.

Frenchman Matthias Dandois is the “king of two-wheelers and freestyle tricks”. Performing his tricks all over the world, he never stops pushing himself and the limits of BMX. He has become a freestyle megastar in less than a decade. This talented rider, whose motto is ‘Work Hard Play Hard’, has been a member of the Dockers Crew since 2022. Matthias Dandois is also an art and fashion lover. His multiple interests have led him to discover other extra-sporting disciplines. Actor, model, yogi, tattoo enthusiast, creative mind, photographer and videographer, athlete, the BMX world champion likes to say about his art : “you just need a bike and a brain”. He also founded his production company called ASi Media. His next challenge: the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Inspired by the vintage BMX culture of the 80s and 90s, this collaborative collection consists of pieces made from recycled fibers and opting for casual oversized cuts.

The capsule includes iconic Dockers items reinterpreted : the original Chino Khaki and another one that has been transformed into shorts, the Deck jacket in bleached denim, the mockneck sweatshirt, as well as different styles of t-shirts : long-sleeved, short-sleeved and sleeveless. These pieces are presented in khaki or light blue, and white with orange graphics and branding details or conversely, orange with white lettering.

This capsule is made up of strong details and designs that make these pieces unique: visible linings, oversized or embroidered logo. Dockers® designers have redesigned the brand’s logo for this exclusive collaboration, inspired by one of Matthias Dandois’ tattoos : the tooth and the finger, a play on the BMX champion’s last name : the tooth = “Dan”, the finger = “Dois”. We also find a rock logo that perfectly matches the Dockers® ride culture and the style of this capsule.

Matthias Dandois commented on the collaboration : “I was thrilled to go to San Francisco and work with Nic (Rendic) and the design team on this project. It was amazing! I can’t draw. We sat around a table and talked. We talked about inspiration, fabrics, colors, styles and designs and together I think we designed a really cool capsule.”

Nic Rendic, Head of Design at Dockers® confided : “It was great working with Matthias. He is really creative and inspiring. It was really interesting to learn that he was already wearing Dockers® in our early days and to work with him to reinterpret our timeless classics from a vintage BMX street culture perspective.”

The Dandois x Dockers collection is now available at select retailers like Citadium Paris and online at dockers.com. Prices range from 35€ to 160€, let’s go!
