After having recently teamed up with Off-White to raise funds for the construction of Ghana’s first skatepark (article available HERE), the Dutch streetwear label Daily Paper pays tribute to Bob Marley with a collaborative collection.
Daily Paper continues to invest in meaningful projects. With this new capsule, the Amsterdam-based brand highlights the artist who is one of its main inspirations, Bob Marley. To commemorate the memory of the reggae legend, the collection comes out just before what would have been his 76th birthday and is part of the Spring/Summer 2021 offering.
This collection is a reference to Bob Marley’s famous « Redemption Song ». The lyrics « NONE BUT OURSELVES CAN FREE OUR MINDS » are printed or embroidered in a circular pattern throughout the capsule. Some pieces also feature the phrase « LOVE WOULD NEVER LEAVE US ALONE » from the song « Could You Be Loved ».
The capsule is rich and varied. It revolves around classic streetwear pieces such as hoodies, t-shirts, tank tops, pants, tracksuits and shorts, but also offers more elaborate items, such as a suit or shirts and pants decorated with embroidery, reminiscent of traditional African clothing and symbol of the futuristic Afro movement. The color palette ranges from immaculate white to satin brown, mauve, beige and denim blue. To enhance these basics, some items feature meticulous prints and circular designs appear in contrasting and/or bright colors.
