After having proposed a few days ago a collab with Asics based on the silhouette of the GEL-Kayano 21 (article available HERE), the shop AWAKE NY teams up once again with the artist Sam Friedman for a new capsule collection.
The two partners had already worked together last year. The pieces revisited by the New York artist have a unique style, using bright colors, lines, patterns and different textures.
Sam Friedman moves from representation to abstraction with apparent ease and spontaneity. Born in New York City in the mid-1980s, he graduated from Pratt Institute with a degree in commercial art and has worked with major companies such as Nike and the New York Times. Spending his free time painting, he then spent 4 years as an assistant to KAWS. Sam Freidman has a thirst for learning from the best. This has given him many tools, techniques and materials that he has kept with him as he has made a name for himself. The New York artist is inspired by his experience walking into the sunset in the middle of a storm. This personal encounter allowed him to create « beach paintings », which have become a hallmark of his work. He’s an artist who paints intuitively and is known to work in black and white in difficult moments, although bright colors are most often his favorite mood and color palette.
For this new collab with Angelo Baque’s brand, Sam Friedman actually used his favorite bright color palette. The capsule collection includes a mid-zip puffer jacket, sherpa fleece mid-zip pullover and pant, a canvas tote bag and a 5 panel cap. All these items appear in a combination of mostly warm colors : orange, yellow and red, crossed by patterns of purple, green or burgundy lines. These multi-colored pieces with a distinctive style are adorned with a special AWAKE NY branding label
The AWAKE NY x Sam Friedman capsule collection will be released on December 15, 2021 at 5pm (11am EST) exclusively on the AWAKE NY Instagram shop (@awakenewyorkclothing). Prices are set at $370 for the jacket, $250 for the pullover and $235 for the fleece pants, then $75 for the tote bag and $50 for the cap. Be ready !
