Collection Butter Goods x PUMA

While a PUMA Suede redesigned by Carlton Yaito has just surfaced on social networks (article available HERE), the feline brand unveils a collaboration with the underground skatewear label BUTTER GOODS. A complete footwear and apparel collection has been designed.

During the summer, the Australian brand announced a partnership with the equipment manufacturer PUMA.

BUTTER GOODS is a 100% skate label founded by Garth Mariano and Matthew Evans in 2008. The brand is strongly rooted in the culture of its native country and is inspired by skateboarding, music, art and urban lifestyle. BUTTER GOODS offers 90’s influenced clothing with a clean style and original graphics.

The collaborative collection unveiled today recalls the great era of sports clubs, vintage tennis teams and bold skate products of the 90’s. These inspirations are transposed into cult silhouettes to bring a fresh touch to the PUMA heritage.

For the footwear offer, BUTTER GOODS has reinterpreted the Basket silhouette in 2 colorways and the Slipstream also in 2 versions.

The PUMA Basket VTG features a corduroy upper in orange or navy blue with the iconic white side stripe. To affirm the collab, the BUTTER branding adorns the classic tongue tag alongside the PUMA logo. Other elements such as the inner lining, laces and sole appear in white.

The PUMA Slipstream, one of the most popular basketball silhouettes of the 80’s, features a white or black leather base with subtle green finishes. Like the Basket, the BUTTER branding is paired with the PUMA logo on the tongue tag, but it also appears applied in gold on the side heel. A gumsole completes the look.

These pairs are accompanied by a well-stocked apparel collection. We find the usual sweatshirts and hoodies, graphic tees and polo shirts with retro designs, as well as vintage corduroy tracksuits.

Garth Mariano said : « The late 90s/early 2000s were full of bright colors, loose fitting, technical fabrics and finishes. We mixed that influence with vintage tones and classic styles as well. »  Matthew Evan continued : « Our designs and skateboarding in general are heavily influenced by 90s sportswear, so stylistically it was pretty easy to tie in. Since PUMA doesn’t have a skate program, it was fun to reinterpret things through that lens. »

The Butter Goods x PUMA collection will be released on September 4, 2021 at select retailers and on puma.com. For the sneakers, prices are set at 130$ for the VTG Basket and 120$ for the Slipstream. Be ready !
