The master of the robotic maximalist known for his « sexy robots », Hajime SORAYAMA, unveils a new 100% Japanese collaboration. After transporting the avant-garde Mizuno Wave Prophecy silhouette far into the future earlier this year (article available HERE), the famous designer presents a collaboration with the iconic streetwear brand BAPE, also including Be@rBricks.
This collaboration consists of a brand new version of the iconic BAPE STA silhouette, a selection of clothes, a tote bag and Be@Bricks from Medicom Toy.
BAPE STA is dressed in Hajime SORAYAMA’s signature « superrealist » style. It features a glossy silver base, subtly adorned with BAPE’s legendary shooting star logo on the transparent side panels. The shoe features a silver lace cover with BAPE’s signature camo pattern in tonal detail and buttonholes on both sides reminiscent of the Japanese futuristic designer’s robots. Other engraved branding details complete the look, such as the designer’s name SORAYAMA on the side heel and BAPE branding on the heel tab. The latter is inscribed in black on the tongue tag. A white inner lining finalizes the design. The whole is based on a semi-translucent yellow sole that brings a touch of contrast.
The textile selection is based on white or black short-sleeved T-shirts and a grey coach jacket. On the front of the t-shirts, we find the iconic Shark logo of BAPE associated with the branding SORAYAMA, the inscription A BATHING APE decorates the top of the back. The jacket appears in grey with the BAPE Camo pattern in all over tone on tone. As for the branding, BAPE stands out on the chest, SORAYAMA and A BATHING APE each adorn one of the two sleeves. A silver tote bag completes the collection. It’s also covered with BAPE’s Camo pattern and features the slogan « APE Shall Never Kill APE » on the handles.
The Be@rBricks are available in 3 sizes, 100%, 400% and 1000%, and in reflective silver or gold color. They feature details throughout their silhouette referencing the BAPE Camo and Shark logo, as well as SORAYAMA’s robotic details.
