For some time now, the legendary PUMA brand has been coming back to the forefront with attractive and high-end collabs. After teaming up with Dapper Dan and JJJJOUND, the sportswear label announces the release date of its 2nd project with the fashion house BALMAIN.
This new opus follows the first collaborative work of the 2 brands created with model Cara Delevingne in 2019 and inspired by the world of boxing.
Olivier Rousteing, the artistic director of the French high fashion label said : “In 2019, I worked closely with the Puma team on a Balmain x Puma offering inspired by boxing. Obviously, I loved creating that capsule, but for this second time, I really wanted to focus on the thrill of basketball.”
The designer fused BALMAIN’s signature luxurious style with PUMA’s basketball heritage to create this limited collaborative collection.
The capsule revolves around a reinterpreted pair of BALMAIN Court sneakers and a range of apparel.
The shoe created by the legendary Parisian brand has been modified for the occasion. Made from high-end, performance materials, it consists of a black Italian leather upper with a matching technical mesh toe box. The shoe also features a leather upper tongue strap with subtle embossed BALMAIN branding and a thick co-branded heel pull. Gold-colored BALMAIN branding also graces the tongue tag, while the small PUMA logo stands out in white under the lace area. This special edition incorporates revolutionary performance materials, including PUMA’s high rebound ProFoam and high abrasion rubber for multi-directional traction. In terms of design, the sole unit comes in white/black/grey/red with a stylishly redesigned iconic white PUMA stripe surrounding the heel.
This exclusive pair will come in a co-branded box with a basketball motif.
The matching apparel offering includes jackets and training pants, t-shirts and caps. The parisian brand is also offering co-branded varsity jackets based on BALMAIN’s “Teddy” jacket, first seen at Paris Fashion Week.
For the campaign, the partners enlisted the participation of professional basketball players and PUMA Hoops athletes Skylar Diggins-Smith and Kyle Kuzma.
The Balmain x PUMA collection will be released on February 18, 2023 in PUMA’s flagship store in NYC and online at balmain.com and puma.com for most regions of the world, and starting February 28 in the United States. Be ready !
