Clarks Originals x Compound Wallabee « Floor Seats »

The legendary CLARKS brand continues to present eye-catching collabs filled with history. After working with one of the world’s best reggae-dancehall sound systems, Mighty Crown, the footwear specialist has teamed up with COMPOUND founder Set Free Richardson to rework the iconic Wallabee in a « Game Time » basketball spirit.

Born and raised in New York and Philadelphia, Set Free Richardson has been using his knowledge and experience in the urban world to develop groundbreaking ideas for over 20 years. He has translated these ideas into effective and proven marketing tools that have made him one of the most talented creative minds in the industry. For many years, Set Free Richardson helped promote and develop various brands. Based on his success, he then decided to launch his own label COMPOUND, which is a creative marketing agency and a space where art, music, fashion and sports come together and inspire an atmosphere of innovation. This authentic brand is driven by a mission of freedom, autonomy and self-expression with a positive spirituality.

COMPOUND’s founder commented : « The Wallabees are a staple in the hip-hop community and fashion culture. To be able to work on a multi-faceted campaign with Clarks that touches on fashion, music, basketball and art is an honor. »

Set Free Richardson was inspired by the style that emanates from the edges of the basketball court to reinvent the iconic CLARKS Wallabee. He wanted to capture the luxury, style and energy of those sitting courtside at an NBA game.

This collaborative edition « Floor Seats » takes the design of vintage leather balls.

It consists of a dark brown upper made of perforated beeswax leather and smooth leather. This base is enhanced by COMPOUND branding details on the heel, insole and on the special hangtags, one of which is the famous number « 7 », which refers to the New Era x Set Free snapback. The cap and number symbolize spirituality, intuition, freedom of spirit and creativity. The « 7 » logo also adorns the tonal leather lace loop. To complete the look, stitching on the vamp and inner lining appears in a light brown shade. A dark brown cream sole harmoniously finalizes the design.

The pair will be delivered with 3 sets of laces in different colors, dark brown, beige and pin green, and in a personalized box.

Commenting on the collab, Tara McRad, Chief Marketing and Digital Officer of Clarks, explained : « We are thrilled to launch this multi-faceted activation that brings together the world of art, fashion, culture, music, sports and technology in one of the world’s most exciting cities with our talented partner, Set Free Richardson and his Compound brand. We began our partnership with Free when he directed our award-winning original documentary, ‘Clarks and New York’, last spring. Free’s passion for the brand became evident, and it quickly materialized into one of the quickly materialized into one of Clarks’ most dynamic campaigns to date. So it was a natural choice to partner on this new project and take it to the next level. »

This Wallabee « Floor Seats » was highlighted at the feet of Minnesota Timberwolves star Kyle Anderson. It’s also celebrated by iconic New York rapper JADAKISS and Dave East, in a track titled « Floor Seats » and produced by Buda & Grandz.

The Clarks Originals x Compound Wallabee « Floor Seats » is available via a purchase of Street Seams NFT designed by the famous BK the Artist and was launched on December 2, 2022 as part of the ART BASEL festivities in the concept store UNKNWN. The NFT is available on the carbon neutral hosting platform, Bubblehouse.
