Unveiled in December 2020 through a sample (article available HERE), the collaboration between the SB division of Nike and a newcomer in the industry, the American skateboard label Carpet Company, is born. A Nike SB Dunk High premium hyper worked is presented to us today.
The Carpet Company brand was founded in 2015 by two Baltimore skateboarders, brothers Ayman and Osama Abdeldayem. Dissatisfied with the quality of the items offered by the manufacturers, the two brothers, having a great sense of creation and humor, decided to develop their own designs for skateboards and clothing. Already working full time, the Carpet Company products were born in the basement of the family home. The Baltimore brothers’ brand can really be called « independent and owned by skateboarders ». Ayman and Osama offer colorful handmade items, embellished with details, embroidery and special printing techniques, sometimes paying homage to their Egyptian Muslim culture.
The shoe consists of a premium quality white leather upper with faded blue overlays and side Swoosh with graphic nuances, a nod to the two brothers’ signature « do-it-yourself » style. This blue color is actually a removable first layer that reveals a yellow background completed with Carpet Company’s signature inscriptions and embroidery. The undercoat of the side Swoosh is in contrasting black color. After removing the first white layer on the heel tab, an Arabic inscription appears on the right foot, and the slogan « Brought to you by the habibis at Carpet Company » adorns the left foot. To showcase the creativity and design of the Baltimore Independent Label, the insoles are covered with a colorful print and the inside of the tongue label is decorated with typical Carpet Company details. A yellowed white midsole and the yellowed tongue with co-branding accentuate the vintage look of the pair. To complete the rich and sharp design, the Carpet logo stands out under the rubber outsole. The pair comes with several sets of laces to ensure the best matchings.
The Carpet Company x Nike SB Dunk High was released exclusively via a special raffle in the Baltimore boutique on February 20 and 21, 2021. A larger release is planned in selected skateshops on February 26, 2021, and on nike.com on March 12, 2021, for a price of 125€.
