For some time now, the French outdoor brand SALOMON has been gaining popularity with streetwear and fashion labels, as shown by recent collabs with COMME Des GARÇONS, The Broken Arm or END. (articles available on this site). The technical know-how and performance qualities of SALOMON have also seduced the iconic workwear label CARHARTT WIP.
Edwin Faeh’s team reinterpreted the French brand’s Shelter CSWP hiking silhouette.
While retaining its original look, this mid shoe is adorned with Carhartt WIP’s distinct aesthetic. It comes in a signature color palette of green, grey and black tone combination. In an effort to highlight the shape and technical qualities of the silhouette, the branding details are minimal and unobtrusive. In terms of construction, the mid boot benefits from high-performance materials such as elastic Softshell and breathable Climashield fabric that ensure waterproofing, comfort and warmth. There are also ripstop elements on the upper, a staple fabric in every Carhartt WIP collection. The workwear brand’s touch continues on the insole, which features a subtle signature camo pattern and red co-branding. The whole is based on a thick, performance lugged sole that matches the upper.
The collab is presented through images and a video inspired by graffiti, a sub-cultural universe that has helped popularize the 2 partner brands beyond their initial fields of workwear and outdoor.
The Carhartt WIP x Salomon Shelter CSWP will be released on February 10, 2022 in select Carhartt WIP and Salomon stores, online at carhartt-wip.com and salomon.com, as well as at selected retailers. The collab will arrive in Asia a week later on February 17, 2022. Be ready !
