New Balance is one of the sportswear brands that is particularly appreciated for its choice of collaborations. Working with Teddy Santis and teaming up with Ronnie Fieg on a regular basis (many articles available on this site), the Boston-based brand is successful with every exclusive release. A new release, mistakenly leaked earlier this year, should delight fans of stylish, high-quality pairs : the 1st ever New Balance x Carhartt WIP collaborative shoe.
For this 1st association, the iconic workwear brand has chosen to revisit the NB 990v1.
Named « Sculpture Center », this Made in USA sneaker pays homage to the very popular neighborhood gyms in the United States.
It consists of a grey mesh upper complemented by navy blue suede overlays. The street-chic look of this collab is ensured by a light brown inner lining, a large cream colored heel clip and small reflective details. The partners’ logos are emblazoned on the tongue tag and reversed on the heel tabs in very light grey leather. The whole is based on a white EVA midsole and a black Vibram outsole with a light brown part under the heel that refine the design.
This special pair will be released with an apparel collection in the same theme as the sneaker. Inspired by classic gym workout pieces, it includes an updated Carhartt WIP Arcan jacket with a snap hood, a pair of sweatpants with a crewneck, and graphic tees in short and long sleeves. These items use the color scheme seen on the shoe and feature the co-branding, as well as the name of the collab « Sculpture Center ».
Accessories include a beanie, towels and a Nalgene bottle, which is a must-have during workouts.
