Carhartt WIP tote bags by Daquisiline Gomis

Legendary brand Carhartt has enlisted the help of rising star of the Parisian creative scene Daquisiline Gomis to make a series of unique tote bags. These accessories are on display at the famous Galeries Lafayette Champs-Elysées, with whom Carhartt WIP has partnered for the « Happy Summer » campaign.

First of all, a little introduction to the designer. Daquisiline Gomis launched his 100% responsible sustainable brand « Beni Originals » in 2018. It pays homage to the African elegance of the 1970s and more specifically to the Senegalese culture of his parents. Inspired by the suits his father loved to wear, Daquisiline handcrafts chic and cool clothing that can feature a workwear design. So the connection to Carhartt WIP was pretty obvious. In addition to his fashion brand, Daquisiline runs 2 Afro-vegan Parisian restaurants with his wife, chef Coralie Kory (« Jah Jah Kitchen » and « Le Tricycle »).

This Carhartt space at Galeries Lafayette Champs-Elysées was specially designed with eco-responsibility in mind, with a wall covered with fabric scraps and sustainable furniture from « La Réserve des Arts ». Neon lighting highlights the organic cotton pieces from the Spring/Summer 2021 Carharrt WIP collection, including the iconic Detroit Jacket or the famous Knee or Newell Pants.

For the tote bags, it’s the Parisian designer Daquisiline Gomis who created them from rolls of unused fabric. They are handmade and have a unique style with a combination of iconic colors Carhartt WIP brown, beige and grey. The legendary Carhartt WIP branding label is sewn onto the front of the tote bag to make a style statement.

Carhartt WIP tote bags by Daquisiline Gomis are available exclusively at Galeries Lafayette Champs-Elysées, Paris, France, in limited quantities. Do not sleep !
