Throughout the year, Japanese apparel manufacturer MIZUNO has partnered with J-League (Japan Professional Football League) club NAGOYA GRAMPUS to bring a series of capsule collections paying tribute to their iconic 1993 jersey. Today, the Scottish shop HANON has joined the 2 partners to participate in the reinterpretation of this jersey and to join it a tracksuit jacket.
For this triple collaboration, HANON wanted to pay tribute to the heritage of NAGOYA GRAMPUS.
The name of the club is derived from the two most important symbols of the city of Nagoya : the Maru-Hachi, which is the official symbol of the city, and the two golden Grampus dolphins on top of the city’s castle. This species of dolphin is also called Risso’s dolphin and can be observed off the coast of Scotland, the HANON roots. Its distinctive grey body is characterized by striped markings that appear over time.
The triple collaboration jersey honors this dolphin, with its white base contrasted by grey striped. We find branding details on the chest and sleeves, including the Nagoya Grampus Eight logo and the embroidered Mizuno « M ». The classic Nagoya Dolphin left chest logo has been modified for the occasion, with the football replaced by the signature HANON flame logo. To ensure the look, the collar and lower sleeves are presented in solid grey.
The Nagoya ’93 tracksuit jacket that accompanies this jersey takes the same inspiration and keeps the iconic geometric design of the original version. The solid black base is complemented by a dark grey upper yoke with light grey ribbing. The jacket features a metal zipper, 2 side pockets, and ribbed collar and cuffs. As on the jersey, we find the modified Nagoya dolphin logo and M on the chest. To add the final touch of collaboration, the vintage Nagoya Grampus logo is emblazoned on the sleeve and a HANON x Mizuno co-branding is embroidered in white on the lower right front of the jacket.
The HANON x Mizuno x Nagoya Grampus capsule will be released on November 5, 2021 via a raffle set up on the Scottish shop’s website : https://launches.hanon-shop.com/collections/hanon. Prices are set at 88$ (£65) for the jersey and 130$ (£95) for the jacket. Don’t sleep !
