In addition to the partnership they have been maintaining for several months, ASICS and Kiko Kostadinov unveil a new ultra limited collaboration. The 2 partners invited the Los Angeles brand BRAIN DEAD to participate in this latest project which resulted in the creation of a new silhouette named GEL-Fratelli.
Created by Bulgarian designer Kiko Kostadinov and BRAIN DEAD’s founder-designer Kyle Ng, the shoe has a mismatched look. Illustrating the differences between the 2 designers, it represents a distinct brother and sister who, when brought together, form a unity, a single voice. The sneaker is inspired by the concept of « left brain vs. right brain », corresponding to Brain Dead vs. Kiko respectively, in a mutual respect between the 3 labels. This pair consists of an upper combining patent leather and mesh. Each foot appears in different colors : Black/Solid Blue for the right and Black/White-Green speckled for the left. To accentuate the design, the soles are also mismatched. The right shoe features a black midsole coupled with a yellow spiked outsole, while the left shoe benefits from a red color combination.
The Brain Dead x Kiko Kostadinov x asics GEL-Fratelli is limited to 120 pairs worldwide. It will be released on August 15, 2021 at noon BST online at kikokostadinov.com and wearebraindead.com, as well as at the Dover Street Market shop in LA.
