NIKE’s skateboarding division continues to invite cult brands to bring their touch to iconic models. After Concepts, JARRITOS, Run The Jewels or HUF, the iconic Los Angeles-based brand BORN X RAISED unveils its reinterpretation of the SB Dunk Low.
The BORN X RAISED store was founded by Spanto and 2Tone in 2013. The idea to open a streetwear store came to Spanto while he was in prison. The inspiration for the brand is based on Spanto’s hometown of Venice and the frustration of seeing this place change. Through Born x Raised, he preserves the history of Venice where he was ‘born and raised’. This authentic brand uses bold graphics and designs from West Coast heritage. It enjoys popularity with public figures and features eye-catching collaborations, like this new Nike SB Dunk Low.
The shoe sports a two-tone white/blue look and is adorned with many attractive details. It consists of a white premium leather upper contrasted by blue nubuck overlays. The toe box and upper eyelets feature cross-shaped perforations and a special embroidered design on the side heel. The pair features holographic side Swoosh and heel tabs and several branding and co-branding details, such as ‘One Block’ and ‘At a time’ embroidered in white on the toe, ‘In loving Memory’ on the blue laces, ‘Born SB’ on the tongue tag, insole, right heel and underneath the outsole, and also ‘On the Turf’ on the back of the midsole and the inner tongue tag. The whole is based on a white midsole and blue outsole that harmoniously finalize the design.
This pair will come with 3 sets of laces, blue, white and pink, and could be accompanied by a collaborative apparel collection.
