Since the NIKE AIR JORDAN 1 HIGH OG « FL|OW » of 2020 (article available HERE), Damian Sim of BespokeIND had to put his art on hold in order to focus on his family during the pandemic. 2 years later, the Melbourne-based creative studio shoemaker presents us with the last 4 samples he handcrafted during the lockdown : 3 Nike SB Dunk Low Pros and 1 Air Jordan 1 High.
Among the 3 Nike SB Dunk Low Pros, the « LEGACY » corresponds to the pair created in 2019 and offered to Virgil Abloh (RIP) in 2020 just before the pandemic started. It’s handcrafted from original vintage Louis Vuitton bags. The entire Louis Vuitton bag lining was used to replace the suede inserts. The light brown base is enhanced by dark brown overlays adorned with Louis Vuitton’s famous branding details. The side Swoosh is adorned in a bright beige colorway and sits on a quilted quarter panel. To complete the look, the whole is based on a dark brown midsole and a gum rubber outsole.
The Nike SB Dunk Low Pro « TROOPS » is one of the first samples of 2019. It appears in a green and black color scheme inspired by military clothes. It’s crafted from pig suede, faded black Oyama selvedge Japanese denim and completed with green ripstop canvas overlays. The black leather side Swoosh features perforations and the inner lining is composed of deerskin. The pair sports other unique details in high-quality materials that ensure the exclusive look. An off-white midsole coupled with a black outsole completes the look.
As the name suggests, the SB Dunk Low Pro « EQUALITY » celebrates human equality. It’s the latest sample from the Australian design studio. The shoe features an upper combining the original Louis Vuitton grey wool blend jacquard monogram with overlays and a white or black premium leather side Swoosh depending on the side of the foot. To affirm the mismatched black/white look, the pair benefits from a two-tone sole.
Named « Geo », the Air Jordan 1 is a sample from the 2021 archive. It features a design that unites the style of Nike’s iconic AJ1 with that of Rick Owens’ famous GeoBasket. The vintage look of the sneaker is provided by a high quality distressed white leather upper and yellowed laces and midsole. The upper is adorned with an over-lacing system modulated by metal eyelets that can appear as a nod to the late Virgil Abloh’s designs. To finalize the design, the pair features black colored elements : the iconic side Swoosh, the ankle area, the tongue tag and the outsole.
Each pair ordered will be a one-of-a-kind piece of art handmade in Melbourne, individually numbered and never to be duplicated.
